I bought a print of The Narrows from my favorite photographer, Ben Horne — it's the only print in my house I didn't take myself. After years of staring at it, I finally booked a trip to Zion to see that scene with my own eyes. The river hike was my main motivation, but Utah's desert landscapes turned out to be reason enough on their own. Being surrounded by sandstone walls towering thousands of feet above was a surreal experience and I'm already looking forward to a return trip.
